• Over 5,500 people attended.
• Over 130 exhibitors participated on over 400,000 sq. ft. of space.
• A donation of $25,000 was made to Construction Tech Academy!

In addition, Building Careers In Construction, Inc., the non-profit corporation that produces the Construction Expos, is expanding on two programs it introduced last year and introducing an additional program into Construction EXPO2008! They are:

• Educate the Educators—An outreach program that invites local educators to get out of the classroom and visit various construction sites around San Diego. Its purpose is to raise the awareness of the opportunities and incomes in construction.  In just its first year, over 40 educators from over 30 schools participated in Educate the Educators.  As a result of this program, several schools requested speakers to make presentations to students at area high schools and an industry speaker’s bureau has been formed! 
• www.HotBuildingCareers.com—BCIC’s recently launched employment website for the local construction industry. This site is where employers, apprenticeships, and educational programs can list opportunities for job seekers, students and other people interested in what the construction industry has to offer! We are taking steps to really get this website off the ground as the number one stop for those seeking jobs in the construction industry.
• San Diego Rebuilds! After the devastating 2007 wildfires, BCIC took action with this one-day event at the California Center for the Arts, Escondido. The event put hundreds of fire survivors in touch with local building officials, attorneys, tax and lending professionals, verified contractors, architects, builders, estimators and other suppliers. In response to the overwhelming positive feedback, BCIC is producing San Diego Rebuilds! East County to assist fire survivors in East County. Expo2008 will serve as the third venue to assist San Diego Firestorm 2007 survivors in the rebuilding process!

Some of the innovations we have planned for this year include:

• Increased promotional efforts that include
• A revamped website with more information about the event for attendees.
• Online signups and payment options for exhibitors.
•  Advertising and press announcements in local industry publications, newsletters and school newspapers.
• An extensive exclusive direct mail and email campaign.
